My grandfather Alfred Tildahl and his siblings were there from 1920 to 1930. My in laws live in twin valley now. My daughter's graduation will be held in twin valley. I thought some history of her great grandfather would be a great gift to her. My grandpa died in 1983.I only remember bits and pieces of what he said about the orphanage. I do know someone wrote a book do you know who that is? Any information about my grandfather and his siblings would be great.
Check out Carl Narveson. The Twin Valley Historical Society has a cooy of it. My Maternal Grandparents, John & Alma Widme worked there til the fire. Grandma was a nurse & Grandpa ran the farm. I met Joe Merihy in 2005. He remembered them & took me to their cemetary. I will always think fondly of Joe!
These are excerpts from the monthly newsletter started in August 2005,
for the remaining children who lived at Wild Rice Lutheran Children's
Home in Twin Valley, Minnesota.
Photographs, stories, memories and news are shared by them. The home
was destroyed by fire in March of 1931, so many things were lost.
My mother Selma Maudal Hamilton, and her five brothers and sisters went
to live at the home on May 6, 1923. We now live in Glendale,
California.

PS. Joe told of the boys smoking had caused the fire.
